 What are we studying?

Sunday School:

Currently we are studying the curriculum Teen Topics - Study. Grow. Share. from MiniBibleLessons.com These topics include guilt, discernment, peer pressure, addiction, and several others. 

Past Sunday School Studies:

  • The Defender's Guide, a lesson book that Mr. Harold Munson created to educate believers on how to defend the creation and debunk evolution. 

 

  • On 7/9 we finished the theology book 50 Most Important Bible Questions by Dr. Michael Rydelnik. We had taken up a verbal survey asking our teens things they wanted to know about...questions they had that needed answers. In that book we found answers to every one that was menitoned as well as "gray areas". Some of the questions asked were, "Why is alchohol bad but wine is mentioned in the Bible?", "Why does God allow bad things to happen?", "Which version of the Bible is best?", and "Can a person lose their salvation?" If you'd like to take a peek into the book or even borrow it, it is on the teens' book shelf in the room.                    

                                                            

 

Wednesdays:

  • In September, Bro. Manny started teaching from Hebrews. He is going verse by verse through each chapter and asking content questions to encourage group discussion. 

 

  • On 8/9, Bro. Manny fisnished the mini series in Jude. We enjoyed having having parents in class with us for the series. 

 

  • Prior to being in Jude, we were in a series that abled us to hear about the lives of the disciples and where their missions took them.

 

Some other studies we have finished include the following:

  • The book of Daniel and what it means to be a disciple. We discussed how to witness to the lost and included times of witnessing practice. It's our prayer as a class that through that time the youth will be more confident in sharing the gospel with others.

 

  • A witness program called "3 Circles".

        1. God's Design > sin

        2. Brokeness > trying to fix things on our own > Repent & Believe

        3. Gospel > Recover & Pursue

Mission Trip to Guatemala: 

July 23rd - 28th two of our teens and Bro. Manny joined others in our church family on the mission trip to Guatemala. Lots of decisions and memories were made in that week. One of the teens gave a devotion to the Christian school encouraging students to walk close to the Lord. Both teens voiced that they each had learned a lot about how to be content with what the Lord provides. 

 

Deep Stream Ministries:

Our teens were sent the names of two students to be praying for from Deep Stream Minsitries. In addition to our lifted prayers are notes of encouragement that are translated and passed along to them. 

 

Fiestas Naidenas:

The teens had an opportunity to have a part in "Fiestas Naidenas", which means "Christmas parties". Missionaries to Mexico, Mr. Ernie and Mrs. Hilda Harman, organize it and involve all of the ministries that they are a part of in Mexico. They have whole villages or neighborhoods turn out for this time of celebration.

From September to November, teens brought in ziploc bags full of various items. Some for fun and some that were needed. These bags will be passed out to teens in Mexico during Fiestas Naidenas.
